It makes sense that Marissa Bregman would title her first album “Parade.” There’s a festive quality to many of the songs, and a stripped down approach to the instrumentation which includes handclaps, whistles and kazoos, or the odd voice standing in for a bass as it does in “Love You Too much.” Her native New York City is the setting, and a character in many of the songs, in subtle and not so subtle ways.
