Gerardo Carmine Gargiulo was born near Avellino (southern Italy) and suddenly got national fame because of a pop-folk song called "Una gita sul Po" ("a trip to Po river", Po is the longest italian river), with which he took part at the famous Festivalbar TV show in 1982.
Soon after he almost disappeared from the scene, although he wrote some songs for other more known artists, but now he is a respected lawyer in Milan.
