DG Downtown tonight, I saw an old friend someone who A7D I used to take comfort from, long before I met you D7G I caught a spark from his eyes a forgotten desire A7D With a word or a touch, I could have rekindled that fire
DG But old flames, can't hold a candle to you A7D no one can light up the night like you do D7G Flickering embers of love, I've known one or two A7D But old flames, can't hold a candle to you
DG Sometimes at night I think of old lovers I've known A7D I remember how holding them, helped me not feel so alone D7G Then I feel you beside me and even their memories are gone A7D Like stars in the night, lost in the sweet light of dawn
DG But old flames, can't hold a candle to you A7D no one can light up the night like you do D7G Flickering embers of love, I've known one or two A7D But old flames, can't hold a candle to you
