Well, I don't know about you, but I do know that Dashboard Confessional's tendency to
use weird tunings pisses me off. So, here's a version that only makes you tune down a
half step--easy to undo afterwards.
[Tune guitar down 1/2 step--Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb]
**Verse 1** (lead-in: G G G F#m)
A E
I'm missing you bad, I never sleep.
F#m E
Avoiding the spots where we'd have to speak.
F#m A D G G G F#m
And this bottle of beast is taking me home.
A E
I'm cuddling close to blankets and sheets,
F#m A
But you're not alone, and you're not discrete.
F#m A D G G G F#m
Make sure I know who's taking me home.
A E
I'm reading your note over again,
F#m E
And there's not a word that I comprehend,
F#m A B
Except where you signed it "I will love you always and forever."
**Bridge**
E--2-3-5--5-3-2--0-2-3-2-0-2--3--3--3-2---0--2--0-0-5-
B---------------------------------------3-------------
**Chorus**
F#m D
Well as for now I'm gonna hear the saddest songs,
F#m D E
And sit alone and wonder, how you're making out.
F#m Am
But as for me, I wish that I was anywhere,
A D
With anyone, making out...
**Verse 2** (G G G F#m)
F#m A
I'm missing your laugh, how did it break?
F#m A
And when did your eyes begin to look fake?
F#m D G G G F#m
I hope you're as happy as you're pretending.
F#m A
I'm cuddling close to blankets and sheets.
F#m A
I am alone in my defeat,
F#m D G G G F#m
I wish I knew we were safely at home.
F#m A
I'm missing you bad, I never sleep.
F#m Am
Avoiding the spots where we'd have to speak.
F#m D
And this bottle of beast is taking me home.
**Bridge**
**Chorus**
**Outro**
E D E D F#m D F#m D
Your hair, it's everywhere. Screaming infidelities and taking its wear.
E D E D F#m D F#m D
Your hair, it's everywhere. Screaming infidelities and taking its wear.
[and then when the singing gets up into that castrati range the 3rd time:]
A G A G A G D
Your hair, it's everywhere!! Screaming infidelities and taking its wear.
[And to close the song:]
E D E D F#m D F#m D
Your hair, it's everywhere. Screaming infidelities and taking its wear.
Notes: Wherever "G G G F#m" is indicated, you can just play those notes on the top
string of the guitar instead of playing the whole chord.
Also, the tab for the bridge is approximate--generally it puts the right notes in the
right places but listen to the track to get it 100% correct.
Fingerings:
D=200232 (use your thumb on the sixth string; this is technically a D/F# chord, but
Dashboard loves getting the most out of their six guitar strings so use this chord to
better reflect that)
E=022100
F#m=244222
G=320033/355433 (use the barre G to transition from G to F#m)
Am=x02210/577555 (use the barre chords if you're able to use all 6 strings,
A=x02220/577655 as Dashboard is fond of doing)
B=x24442/799877
Good luck!
