Courtney Barnett is an Australian singer/songwriter originally from Sydney, New South Wales; later moving to Hobart, Tasmania[/placeform] where she began performing music in 2006 before relocating to Melbourne in 2010.
Barnett puts a lot of effort into sounding effortless. Her songs are wild and wooly and wordy, her lyrics plainspoken and delivered like she’s making them up on the spot.
Barnett was originally a part of several bands, including Immigrant Union and The Olivettes before focusing on her solo work.

[Verse] D I saw you in the lane next to me A You were doing freestyle, then you switched it around To a little bit of backstroke A I couldn't see underneath D Your swimming cap, but it appeared that you had A Dark colored hair, maybe it was blonde for all I know A I had goggles on A They were getting foggy A I much prefer swimming to jogging
[Instrumental] (x2) DBCC#
[Verse] D I tried my very best to impress you A Held my breath longer than I normally do A I was getting dizzy My hair was wet and D Felt my muscles burn, I took a tumble turn For the worse, it's a curse AA My lack of athleticism, sunk like a stone A Like a first owner's home loan A When I came to, you and your towel were gone
