Singer/Songwriter Colin Hay is the former front-man of the classic Australian band Men at Work. Since the group disbanded he has released several solo albums, including Man at Work, which featured re-recordings of classic Men at Work songs in an acoustic environment.
Hay has also been involved with the NBC TV series Scrubs
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
Colin Hay has played this song in at least three different ways, not counting the Men At Work version(s). This particular version is based on the the Scrubs episode as well as many of his live performances on YouTube.
Note that when he plays this live the guitar is tuned standard. The Scrubs version, however, seems to be tuned 1/2 step down. He also plays an Acoustic version in D which I also transcribed in a separate tab.
Don't let the chords scare you on this one. Follow the chord chart below for best results. If you want to make the verses even easier you can use your first finger and pinky to play the fingerings on the D and A strings and mute the rest. Another tip...For the transition from G# to G#7 in the chorus just lift your pinky.

EE7 Alone between the sheets DD7 Only brings exasperation EE7 It's time to walk the streets DD7 Smell the desperation EE7 At least there's pretty lights DD7 And though there's little variation EE7 It nullifies the night DD7 from overkill
