CG The rain it started tappin, on the window near my bed DmG There was a loophole in my dreamin, so I got out of it AmF And to my surprise my eyes were wide and already open DmG To my nightstand and my dresser where those nightmares had just been CG So I dressed myself and left them, out into the grey streets DmG But everything seemed different, completely new to me AmF The sky, the trees, houses, buildings, even my own body DmG And each person I encountered, I couldn’t wait to meet CG And I came upon a doctor, who appeared in quite poor health DmG I said there’s nothing that I can do for you that you can’t do for yourself AmF He said “Oh yes you can just hold my hand, I think that that would help” DmG So I sat with him a while, and I asked him how he felt
He said "I think I'm cured. In fact I'm sure. Thank you stranger, e|-----------0----0---0---------0----0---0-----------0---0---0-----| B|-----------1----1---1---------1----1---1-----------1---1---1-----| G|-----------0----0---2---------0----0---2-----------0---0---2-----| D|-----------3----2---2---------3----2---2-----------3---2---2-----| A|-----------3----2---0---------3----2---0-----------3---2---0-----| E|-----------------------------------------------------------------|

CG So that’s how I learned the lesson, that everyone’s alone DmG And eyes must do some raining, if you’re ever gonna grow AmF And when cryin don’t help, you can’t compose yourself it’s best to compose a poem DmG An honest verse of longing, or a simple song of hope CG That’s why I’m singin’ baby don’t worry, cause now I got you back DmG And every time you feel like crying, I’m gonna try and make you laugh AmF And if I can’t, if it just hurts too bad, then we’ll wait for it to pass DmG And I will keep you company, for those days so long and black CG And we’ll keep working on the problem, that no one ever solved DmG Of love’s uneven remainders, our lives are fractions of a whole AmF But if the world could remain within a frame, like a painting on a wall DmG Then I think we’d see the beauty and, we’d stand staring in awe
At our still lives posed, like a bowl of oranges e|--------0-----0-----0-------------0---0---0-------| B|--------1-----1-----1-------------1---1---1-------| G|--------0-----0-----2-------------0---0---2-------| D|--------3-----2-----2-------------3---2---2-------| A|--------3-----2-------------------3---2-----------| E|--------------------------------------------------|
