Ben Howard (born 24 April 1987) is an English singer-songwriter, born in London. He moved to Totnes, Devon, in his teens. Howard's musically-inclined parents exposed him at a young age to their favourite records from singer-songwriter artists such as Bob Dylan, Nina Simone and John Martyn. Howard began writing his own songs and after a short spell studying journalism, he decided in 2009 at the age of 21 to become a full-time musician.

[Verse] DBm Hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags,
I've come to know that memories Asus4 Were the best things you ever had DD The summer shone beat down on bony backs Bm So far from home where the ocean stood Asus4D Down dust and pine cone.. tracks
DD We slept like dogs down by the fire side Bm Awoke to the fog all around us Asus4 The boom of summer time
[Chorus] D We stood Bm Steady as the stars in the woods Asus4 So happy-hearted Asus4A And the warmth rang true inside these bones BmAsus4 As the old pine fell we sang D Just to bless the morning.
DD Hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags, Bm I've come to know the friends around you Asus4 Are all you'll always have DD Smoke in my lungs, or by the echoed stone Bm Careless and young, free as the birds that fly Asus4 With weightless souls now.
D We stood Bm Steady as the stars in the woods Asus4 So happy-hearted Asus4D And the warmth rang true inside these bones D We stood Bm Steady as the stars in the woods Asus4 So happy-hearted Asus4 And the warmth rang true inside these bones BmAsus4 As the old pine fell we sang D Just to bless the morning.
D We grow, grow, steady as the morning Bm We grow, grow, older still Asus4 We grow, grow, happy as a new dawn Asus4 We grow, grow, older still D We grow, grow, steady as the flowers Bm We grow, grow, older still Asus4 We grow, grow, happy as a new dawn Asus4 We grow, grow, older still
