Four years of hard work!

[Verse 1]
Gm Bb F Eb
Forty-seven strings are pulled
Eb Gm F Cm
By this angelic beaten girl
Bb F Gm Cm
And it breaks our hearts to hear
Eb Gm F Cm
The music that comes out of her.
Eb Gm F Cm
Shoulders hang on folded chairs
Eb Gm F Gm
This will be our church tonight
Bb F Gm Cm
We have dug our foxholes here
Eb Gm F Cm
Not an atheist in sight.

Cm Eb Cm Eb
Laughing shaking taking oaths
Gm Bb F Cm
Breaking sacramental cups
Gm Bb F Cm
We pour the magic in our coats
Eb Gm F Cm
Thinking it can leave with us.

[Chorus]
Eb Gm F
But it’s a long way out
Eb Bb F
20 steps but it’s so harming
Eb Gm F
When they talk out loud
Eb Bb F
banter breaks your fingers on me

[Verse 2]
Gm Bb F Cm
I’ve been breathing evil air
Eb Gm F Cm
Sharing needles with the sky
Bb F Gm Cm
Looking up remembering
Eb Gm F C
Regina said they're just old light.
Gm F Cm Eb
But you somehow understood
Eb Gm F Cm
My oversaturated skin
Bb F Gm Cm
You raised your hand up to my neck
Eb Gm F Cm
And played me like a theremin

Cm Eb Cm Eb
I see London I see France
Gm Bb F Cm
And all the things that we won’t do
Gm Bb F Cm
And if I never leave this chair
Eb Gm F Cm
Maybe I can go with you.

[Chorus]
Eb Gm F
But it’s the long way out
Eb Bb F
20 steps but it’s so harming
Eb Gm F
When they talk out loud
Eb Bb F
banter breaks your fingers on me
Eb Gm F
It’s a long way out
Eb Bb F
Past the bar and past the awning
Eb Gm F
Past the easy crowd
Eb Bb F
Back into the end

[Verse 3]
Gm Bb F Cm
I am finding solace here
Eb Gm F Cm
In this unexpected place
Bb F Gm Cm
Like a startled dying man
Eb Gm F Cm
Kneels in prayer just in case
Gm Bb F Cm
And while the night sky sadly lit
Eb Gm F Cm
All that we were sleeping through
Bb F Gm Cm
Death took my friend Benjamin
Eb Gm F Cm
But he left his keys with you

Gm Bb F Cm
So I’ll kiss the air instead
Eb Gm F Cm
As not to disturb your sleep
Bb F Gm Cm
And if you never wake my love
Eb Gm F Cm
Maybe you can come with me

[Chorus]
Eb Gm F
But it’s the wrong way out
Eb Bb F
20 steps but it’s so harming
Eb Gm F
When they talk out loud
Eb Bb F
banter breaks your fingers on me
Eb Gm F
It’s the wrong way out
Eb Bb F
Past the bar and past the awning
Eb Gm F
Past the easy crowd
Eb Bb F
Back into the end of harmony
Eb Bb F
Back into the end of harmony
Eb Bb F
Back into the end of harmony
Eb Bb F Cm Bb Cm
Back into the eeeeeeeeeeeend
