The Avett Brothers is an American folk-rock band that originated in Concord, North Carolina. Two brothers, Seth Avett and Scott Avett, formed the group in 2000 after the breakup of the former rock band, Nemo, adding a third member, Bob Crawford. Subsequently, they have been joined by cellist Joe Kwon. The Avett Brothers combine old-time country, bluegrass, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, honky tonk and ragtime to produce a sound described by the Washington Post as "post civil-war modern rock", or by other reviewers as "grungegrass".

GGG Don't push me out,
GGG Just a little longer
C Stall your mother,
Cmaj7GGsus4G Disregard your father's words.
GGG Close the laundry door,
GGG Tiptoe across the floor
C Keep your clothes on,
Cmaj7GGsus4G I got all that I can take
C Teach me how to use
Cmaj7GGsus4G The love that people say you made
GGG Stop your parents' car
GGG I just saw a shooting star
C We can wish upon it
Cmaj7GGsus4G But we wont share the wish we made
C But I cant keep no secrets,
Cmaj7GGsus4G I wish that you would always stay
GGG Last night I dreamt the whole night long
GGG I woke with a head full of songs
C I spent the whole day
Cmaj7GGsus4G I wrote 'em down, but its a shame
C Tonight I'll burn the lyrics,
Cmaj7GGsus4G 'Cause every Chorus was your name
GGG Break this tired old routine
GGG And this time don't make me leave
GGG I am a breathing time machine,
GGG I'll take you all for a ride
