John Anthony Frusciante (born in New York on March 5th 1970) though probably best known for his time as guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is a respected, acclaimed and prolific solo artist in his own right. Joining the Chili Peppers in 1988 after the death of Hillel Slovak, the band's original guitarist, Frusciante was featured on both Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik. However, John's rise was short lived. On May 7th, 1992, John quit the band just before the Chili Peppers were due on stage.

Verse GDAmEm And then the past recedes
GDAmEm And I won't be involved
GDAmEm The effort to be free
GDAm Seems pointless from above
Verse GDAmEm You're looking down at me
GDAmEm I'd rather stay below
GDAmEm Than have you staring up at me
GDAmB Is nowhere I want to go
Chorus CAmEmD Ay, This business of how long we try to stay alive
CAmEm Why to be here you first got to die
D So I gave it a try
CGAm And what do you know time was so long ago
Verse GDAmEm And things come back you see
GDAmEm To where they don't belong
GDAmEm And every drop of sea
GDAmB Is the whole ocean
Verse CAm I lied to the greatest thieves
EmD About anything and everything
CAmEm I'm a figure of forgotten speech
D I'm out of reach
CG I can't play it safe
Am But I might just in case
Solo
CG I'm disguised as a reaching hand
Am I'm a working man
CG I don't understand why clock out
Am Comes so slow every time
CGAm That's one line I stay right behind
CGAmB That's one line I stay right behind.
