Verse 1 E You've got the best of both worlds
AbmGbm You're the kind of girl who can take down a man,
AB And lift him back up again
E You are strong but you're needy,
Abm Humble but you're greedy
Gbm Based on your body language,
AB Your shouted cursive I've been reading
E You're style is quite selective,
Abm Though your mind is rather reckless
Gbm Well I guess it just suggests,
AB That this is just what happiness is
Bridge AB Hey, what a beautiful mess this is
AB It's like picking up trash in dresses
Chorus EAbm Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write
GbmAB Kind of turn themselves into knives
EAbm And don't mind my nerve, you can call it fiction
GbmABGb 'Cause I like being submerged in your contradictions, dear
AGbAE 'Cause here we are, here we are
Verse 2 EAbm Although you were biased, I love your advice
Gbm Your comebacks they're quick
AB And probably have to do with your insecurities
E There's no shame in being crazy,
Abm Depending on how you take these
GbmAB Words they're paraphrasing this relationship we're staging
Bridge AB Hey, what a beautiful mess, yes it is
AB It's like we 're picking up trash in dresses
Chorus EAbm Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say
GbmAB Kind of turn themselves into blades
EAbm And the kind and courteous is a life I've heard
GbmAB But it's nice to say that we played in the dirt
AGbAE Cause here, here we are, Here we are
EAbGbAB Here we are, here we are, here we are, here we are,
EAbGbAB Here we are, here we are, here we are, we're still here
Bridge AB And what a beautiful mess this is
AB It's like taking a guess when the only answer is yes
Chorus EAbm And through timeless words and priceless pictures
GbmAB We'll fly like birds not of this earth
EAbm And tides they turn, hearts disfigure
GbmAB But that's no concern when we're wounded together.
EAbm And we tore our dresses, and stained our shirts
GbmAB But it's nice today, all the wait was so worth it.
