Biography:
A história se passa em uma nação pós-apocalíptica chamada Panem constituída por 12 distritos que são governados pela Capital, uma cidade muito poderosa. A história começa quando Katniss pega o lugar da sua irmã, Prim, que foi sorteada para ser o tributo feminino nos Jogos Vorazes, um jogo criado pelo governo da Capital, onde são escolhidos um menino e uma menina de cada distrito como tributo, de idade entre 12 e 18 anos, como uma forma de mostrar que eles mandam em Panem.
