Four years of hard work!This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
This song is pretty simple, but there are some slightly tricky subtleties. Almost Beatlesque.
Tuning: Standard
Intro: B7, Bb7sus, Bb, D# Note: I would emphasize the "middle four" strings on these chords since these are the ones that seem to be played on the song.
Verse: Cm, G#, D#, Bb Note: The timing is really important here. Chords should be strummed on that exact Oh and feel free to add a slap or something between chords since there is a beat of nothing.
-----Verse 1 lyrics Cm (a beat before "from")-->
G#D# From the moment the lights went off, BbCm Everything had changed. G# Lie awake in an empty room, D#BbCm In my head it all feels the same. G# Like the taste of the day you left, D#BbCm It still lingers on my breath. G# And the dampness of tears that left, D#BbCm That stain where you had wept. G# All alone with the negligee, D#BbCm That still hangs off of my bed. G# I keep meaning to give it away, D#Bb But I just leave it there instead.
Chorus: Cm, Cm/Bb, G#, D#, B7, Bb, D# Note: This is very subtle, but DO NOT play Bb after that Cm. Only the bass note moves, the chord is still on Cm. If you play Bb, it will sound very wrong.
-----Chorus 1 lyrics Cm (a beat before "no")-->
Cm/BbG# No need to cry about it, D# I can not live without it, B7 Bb7sus BbD#Cm Every time I wind up back at your door. Cm/BbG# Why do you do this to me? D# You penetrate right through me. B7 Bb7sus BbD# Every time I wind up back at your door.
Verse 2 has the same rhythm and same chords as Verse 1.
-----Verse 2 lyrics-->
3 more days ‘til I see your face, I’m afraid it’s far too much. Cook a meal and fix up the place, Dial your number, hang it up.
If I took you for granted, I apologize for acting tough. You’re my reason for living, And there’s no way I’m giving up, oh.
Chorus 2 has the same rhythm and same chords as Chorus 1.
No need to cry about it, I can not live without it, Every time I wind up back at your door.
Why do you do this to me? You penetrate right through me. Every time I wind up back at your door.
Bridge: Gm7, Fm7, G#, D#, G#, Bb
-----Bridge lyrics-->
Gm7Fm7G#D# Now every evening is a bitter fight, Gm7Fm7G#D# And I’m eating all alone on a Friday night. Gm7Fm7 And I know what your friends say, G#D# “He’s just wasting your love and time.” G# (crescendo) Bb (back to Cm) I will never let you change your mind.
Chorus 3: Cm, Cm/Bb, G#, D#, (G#, Bb, D#) or (B7, Bb7sus, Bb, D#) Note: Another subtlety. The last line switches between some slight chord variations. a look.
-----Chorus 3 lyrics Cm (a beat before "no")-->
Cm/BbG# No need to cry about it, D# I can not live without it, G#D#BbD#Cm Every time I wind up back at your door. Cm/BbG# Why do you do this to me? D# You penetrate right through me. B7 Bb7sus BbD#Cm Every time I wind up back at your door. Cm/BbG# No need to cry about it, D# I may just die without it, G#D#BbD#Cm Every time I wind up back at your door. Cm/BbG# Why do you do this to me? D# You penetrate right through me. B7 Bb7sus BbD# Every time I wind up back at your door.
B7 Bb7sus BbD# Every time I wind up back at your door. B7 Bb7sus BbD#maj7 (surprise!) Every time I wind up back at your door.
Final Note: I will list some of the chords. All regular chords (I.E. G#, Bb, D#, etc.) be bar chords.
