Thomas Luther Bryan (born July 17, 1976), known professionally as Luke Bryan, is an American country singer and songwriter. Luke Bryan grew up in the very small town of Leesburg, Ga. Back home, he helped his father with his peanut and fertilizer businesses while playing sports and enjoying the great outdoors. Yet he can remember his mother urging him to belt out George Strait songs over and over while she drove him into town to shop. By age 14, his parents bought him an Alvarez guitar.

[Intro] CEmBm CEmD
[Verse 1] CEm We didn't have no downtown strip DBm We'd all pile in and take a 2 mile trip C To where the road runs out EmD Sit there and sip on whatever anybody's older brother could get CEm Where we worked in the dirt and fell in love DBm Got my heart broke, broke down my truck CEmD Trying to spin out, show off in that mud too many times
[Pre-Chorus] CEm So much has changed D But then again, it ain't
[Chorus] CG Just like the scarecrows, even when the wind blows DEm We keep our boots and our roots in these cornrows CGD Where we threw down and we passed it around every Friday night CG Just some old plowboys pretending we're cowboys DEm We came from nothing, oh, but look at us now, boys CGD Even when we leave here, we'll always be here, wherever we go CEmBm Just like the scarecrows
[Verse 2] CEmD I don't get back near enough and just like these fields Bm Yeah, we all grow up CEmD And it takes a little more than a paper cup to get dizzy CEm This hundred acre stretch is buried in my bones DBm Don't matter how long that I've been gone CEm I can be anywhere and some song comes on D And it's like I never left home
[Chorus] CG Just like the scarecrows, even when the wind blows DEm We keep our boots and our roots in these cornrows CGD Where we threw down and we passed it around every Friday night CG Just some old plowboys pretending we're cowboys DEm We came from nothing, oh, but look at us now, boys CGD Even when we leave here, we'll always be here, wherever we go CEmD Just like the scarecrows
