Walt Wilkins is a singer/songwriter from the Texas Hill Country (who's also done
some time in Nashville)--one of the unsung (pun intended) great songwriters, in my
opinion! This is one of my favorites of his.

Intro: Asus2 Asus4 A
E Asus2 Asus4 A
We come from the valleys, we come from the fields
E Asus2 Asus4 A
We start rolling in here just after three
Bm E
We approach as to an altar
Bm E Asus2 Asus4 A
With daily needs and gifts to offer our lady of the avenue
She brings salvation one glass at a time
Her congregation is slowly sanctified
We still believe in Jesus
But she's the one who heals us, our lady of the avenue
Dsus2 A
Of all the treasures in heaven, how could they let this one disappear?
Dsus2 E
With the whole wide world to travel, how the hell did she wind up here?
Asus2 Asus4 A
E Asus2 Asus4 A
She graces us each with quiet understanding
E Asus2 Asus4 A
Of the burdens we bear in these lives we've been handed
Bm E
Fulfilling as she listens
Bm E Asus2 Asus4 A
We're safe in her commission, our lady of the avenue
Dsus2 A
Of all the treasures in heaven, how could they let this one disappear?
Dsus2 E
With the whole wide world to travel, how the hell did she wind up here?
Asus2 Asus4 A (x2)
E Asus2 Asus4 A
Every night, I tell her that I love her
E Asus2 Asus4 A
She calls me a ride, she won't serve me another
Bm E
But she smiles at my confession
Bm E Asus2 Asus4 A
And that's a fitting benediction from our lady of the avenue
Asus2 Asus4 A
She's our lady of the avenue
Asus2 Asus4 A
Our lady of the avenue
Asus2 Asus4 A (to fade)
