Two bands have used the name "The Wallflowers": 1. An American rock band 2. A British indie rock band
1. The Wallflowers are a rock band which formed in 1989 in Los Angeles, California, United States. The band's only constant member has been singer/guitarist Jakob Dylan, the son of folk rock legend Bob Dylan. The Wallflowers have released six albums: "The Wallflowers" (1992), "Bringing Down the Horse" (1996), "Breach" (2000), "Red Letter Days" (2002)

Ok I'm not 100% on the lyrics but they are as close as I could come to perfection. And the Bb7 chord may not be it's actuall name so here is a diagram of the chord I use:

6th Avenue Heartache by the Wallflowers, found on "Bringing Down the Horse"
There's four chords throughout: E - B - F#min - A (Open E, B at 7th, ect) (You can add open high E & B's as drone notes). Sounds best "unplugged". I heard a GREAT version which was without drums and bass. Only vocals, resonator slide guitar (try a National Duolian!) for solo fills and background accordion were playing.
My thanks to Jakob Dylan and the Wallflowers for this one!

Transcription by Dave Poch (I am not responsible for any of the following, use at your discretion!)
I play it in a different key than the recorded version: (E as opposed to F?) There's four chords throughout: E - B - F#min - A (Open E, B at 7th, ect) (You can add open high E & B as drone notes). The original, if you like would be F, C, Gmin and B flat, just capo at the first fret and finger the chords as shown. Play a full barre on the F#min if easier.
EB Sirens ring, shots ring out F#min A A stranger cries, he screams out loud EB I had my world strapped against my back F#min A I held my hands, never knew how to act
CHORUS: (add harmony vocal) E When the same black line that was drawn on you B F#min Is drawn on me, now its drawn to you E 6th avenue heartache, aaaaaahhhhhyyy
(Easy, ain't it?)
Below me was a homeless man Singin' songs he new complete On the steps alone His guitar in hand His 50 years sit where he stands
CHORUS 2X
And walking home on those streets The river winds they move my feet Subway steam, like silouttes in dreams Stood by me, just like moonbeams
CHORUS 2X
I looked out the window, down upon that street And gone like midnight was that man But I'd seen his six string laid against that wall And all his things well they all looked so small
I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star Just like me, he just moved aahhhaaa on

However the lyrics I had to figure out on my own, so don't scream if they're a little off, (Jakob can slurr like only a Dylan can [I mean that in a good way]). Try it with the Gm7 before the Bb and let me know what you think ([email protected]) I play it w/capo@3 like D(F) A(C) Em7(Gm7) G(Bb) its easy and sounds cool. I saw these guys in Lawrence KS recently..VERY COOL...like seeing a young pre-disillusioned(new word) Bob! THE WALLFLOWERS 6th Avenue heartache chords by Sam Stewart updated: Barry A. If you have anything to add or change feel free. If you would like to get in touch with me you can: [email protected] or at my homepage http://www.america.net/~samcarla ME TOO! Thank you Sam for getting me on the right track! the Gm7 thing was a gift from above...it just happened....and seemed right!?!? not sure why I can remember lyrics tonight while typing. I sure as hell can't when I'm singing it! I dont know how correct it is. The chords sound right though Ive only got the first verse lyrics, but they're pretty simple. Appreciate any corrections or suggestions....
