The Legendary Pink Dots

Our Dominion

by The Legendary Pink Dots
The Legendary Pink Dots

Biography:

The Legendary Pink Dots are a Netherlands-based band formed in August 1980 in the UK who, although distinctly underground, have been musically influential over the years. The band name was derived from pink dots of nail varnish on the piano in their squat, where founding members Edward and April lived. The band has as its focal point vocalist Edward Ka-Spel, who is, along with Phil "The Silverman" Knight, one of the original remaining members of the band.

Four years of hard work!

This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

Dm Bm
From 15 shades of dog's dust we fell in fields of flowers.
Dm G
Felt like dancing in the dusk, but didn't have the power.
Em Bm
Now we had a place, it wasn't much, but it was ours
C Am
We called it Our Dominion.

Dm Bm
Built a cabin on a crest, spent evenings in your eyes
Dm G
You'd tell me tales of noble quests, I'd sing you lullabyes
Em Bm
We'd sleep beneath those triple moons entwined beside the fire.
C Am
Truly, Our Dominion.

Dm Bm
And from a cloudless sky Our friends descended, wearing silver wings.
Dm G
They'd heard the sound of distant laughter, read our thoughts in smoky rings
Em Bm
Sure enough they liked it here, sure enough they all moved in
C Am
They called it
Dm Bm Dm G Dm Bm Dm G
their extension...

Dm Bm
Someone said "Get organized! We'll prosper if we scheme!"
Dm G
He opened a casino, he pumped fluoride in the stream
Em Bm C Am
They named a plaza in his honour, shit, they keep it clean.

Dm Bm
From each and every angle highways grew from holes in hell
Dm G
They numbered all the houses, built a thousand black hotels
Em Bm
Demolished our poor cabin, we relocated to a cell.
C Am
We called it "space"...

Dm Bm
They taxed the air, the earth, the little birds up in the trees
Dm G
They fined us for a kiss in public, we paid up when we sneezed
Em Bm
And soon the place was richer than Pope Pious Avocado III
C Am
And all
Dm Bm Dm G Dm Bm Dm G
his dominion...

Dm Bm Dm
The city climbed the mountain while the mountain sped on skateboards to the sea
G
They lined up, mouthed a dozen Holy Marys on their knees
Em Bm C Am
The waters opened wide, they planted flags and in they dived...

Dm Bm
Time to fly away again, it was all too claustrophobic
Dm G
We shuffled to the park but it was fence-to-fence aerobics
Em Bm
Thunder clapped, it rained black boiling bile and we fled soaking
C Am
Back

Dm Bm Dm
Still there is a place deep down inside your soul where only I can go
G Em Bm
There's a place deep down inside my soul where you can go

C Am
Call it "Home"
Dm Bm
