The Beautiful South were a British pop group formed in 1989, from the ashes of Hull, England group The Housemartins. The band was put together by lead singer, Paul Heaton, and drummer, Dave Hemingway. They were joined by Sean Welch (Bass), Dave Stead (Drums) and Dave Rotheray (Guitar). Rotheray also co-writes the songs with Heaton.
In The Beautiful South, Heaton shared the lead singer's role with Hemingway and female singer Briana Corrigan to create a trio of lead vocalists.
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
This is a tab submitted to correct someone elses version of the song, which I reckon is Rhythm is really easy, the only real point being that the A in the chorus is just simply downstrokes and releasing your fingers from the fret board after each stroke from what I pick up. Don't know what the technical name for that is but I hope you understand. Enjoy!

DBm From Northernden to Partington it's rain GA From Altrincham to Chadderton it's rain DBm From Moss Side to Swinton hardly Spain GA It's a picture postcard of 'wish they never came'
GD And whilst that deckchair in the garden it makes no sense AD It doesn't spoil the view or cause offence GD Those Floridas, Bavarias and Kents AD Make gentlemen wear shorts but don't make gents
D So convertibles stay garage-bound Bm Save after-sun for later G If rain makes Britain great A Then Manchester is greater D As you dry your clothes once again Bm Upon the radiator G What makes Britain great A Makes Manchester yet greater

DBm From Cheetham Hill to Wytenshawe it's rain GA Gorton, Salford, Sale pretty much the same DBm As I'm caught without my jacket once again GA The raindrops on my face play a sweet refain
GD And as winter turns reluctantly to spring AD For the clouds above the city there's one last fling GD Swallows build their nests, chaffinch sing AD And the sun strolls into town like long lost king
D So convertibles stay garage-bound Bm Save after-sun for later G If rain makes Britain great A Then Manchester is greater D As you dry your clothes once again Bm Upon the radiator G What makes Britain great A Makes Manchester yet greater
GD And the mood of this whole sodden place is melancholy AD Like the sun came out to play, shone through the clouds but dropped its lolly GD And everyone looks so disappointed, so, so sorry AD Like the rain blew into town, kidnapped the sun and stole it's brolly
