The Beautiful South were a British pop group formed in 1989, from the ashes of Hull, England group The Housemartins. The band was put together by lead singer, Paul Heaton, and drummer, Dave Hemingway. They were joined by Sean Welch (Bass), Dave Stead (Drums) and Dave Rotheray (Guitar). Rotheray also co-writes the songs with Heaton.
In The Beautiful South, Heaton shared the lead singer's role with Hemingway and female singer Briana Corrigan to create a trio of lead vocalists.

GEm Don't whisper love and dream of wedding bells AmCGEmAm Don't do all the talking, let love speak up itself CGEmAm Let love speak up itself
GCAmG So when you feel a little tatty and unhappy with your face CGAmG Let it breathe into us and put you back in place CG Let it breathe, let it breathe CAmG From the day it came into us 'till the day it wants to leave CG For it will, it will go CGAmG And it will not say good-bye just like it didn't say hello F There will not be a send-off, a funeral or mass C Just a pathetic little vodka from a dirty little glass Am "To the world's greatest mum GC From the oldest swinger in town"
GEmAm Let love speak up itself CGEmAm Let love speak up itself GEm Let it rise up in the morning and take us for a walk AmCGEmAm Let it do the talking when we're to tired to talk CG When we're too tired to talk
CAmG And when you feel unhappy that I'm not the one I was CGAmG Let love rot inside and let love palm you off CG Let it rot, let it rot CAmG Let it take your feelings and tie them in a knot CG In a knot, in a knot CGAmG Let it take your feelings and tie them in a knot F Hang them from a cleaver and say "Look what we've got C A man and a woman and guess what they forgot" Am "To the world's greatest mum GC From the oldest swinger in town"
