Son Volt is an alternative country group which formed in 1994 in St. Louis, Missouri. The band currently consists of Jay Farrar (vocals, guitar), Chris Masterson (guitar), Andrew Duplantis (bass, vocals), Mark Spencer (keyboards) and Dave Bryson (drums). Farrar is the only original member remaining in the band.
Son Volt formed after the breakup of the band Uncle Tupelo, owing to the simmering creative differences between songwriters Farrar and Jeff Tweedy.
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
***On the record, Farrar plays this in an alternate tuning (a la Nick Drake). However, this is how the band plays it live. These chords are taken from watching Farrar play the song live in Asheville, NC on 3/14/2017. Video can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFMfcQGoFzk (song begins at 50:47 mark).
