Roger McGuinn (born James McGuinn III) is most famous for being a founding member, singer, guitarist, and songwriter in The Byrds. Since that band's demise he has had moderate success as a solo artist, working with many other artists, including Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Some of his solo material has appeared in films, such as 1969's Easy Rider. Roger, along with the other Byrds members, was honored with an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

EC#mEA A simple thing another spring G#mAB And you were there to share my empty bed EC#mEA But now I see you played with me G#mA I can't believe I heard the words you said C#mAF#mB * it's gone it's gone it's gone EC#mEA Now you're cryin shame you curse my name G#mAB For asking you to go you throw me to the wolves EC#mEA But wasn't it clear the end was here G#mA And we were being sentimental fools C#mAF#mB * it's gone it's gone it's gone C#mA Remember that day in the sun the lake reflecting gold F#mC#m Walk behind the waterfall I held you C#mA And what would we have done if the future could be told F#mC#m The sun was going down and it was cold AF#mB * It was cold it was cold it was cold EC#mEA Nothings free for you or me G#mAB I know about the pain it's mainly in your head EC#mEA But at the start it was your heart G#mA The night you came to share my empty bed C#mAF#mB * it's gone it's gone it's gone
