Day of Reckoning - Roddy Frame

Album "Western Skies" (2006)

[Intro]
C C7 F Fsus4 (x2)

[Verse 1]
C
Satellite town shook up youth
F
I used to dream of an unshakeable truth
C G7
Something I could fly my flag upon and never need to give in

[Verse 2]
C
But now I'm all through taking swipes
F
I got promoted and I lost my stripes
C G C
I'm ditchin' all I've been bitchin' about and letting love come in

[Chorus]
C
I used to walk down lonely street
F
Past the bars and the grand hotels
C G7
Checking out all the beautiful people who were checking in
C C7
Now I walk like the street is mine
F
Hand in hand with our dreams entwined
C G7 C
Baby, you brought about my day of reckoning

[Verse 3]
C
I see the sun paint the whole town red
F
And softly show me back to you instead
C G7
I'm confessin' all my sins and I'm reachin' with a higher aim

[Verse 4]
C
Strolling down by the marketplace
F Cdim
Hangin' music on a half-seen face
C G7 C
But rollin' round in my head is the sound of "I Heard Her Call My Name"

[Chorus]
C
I used to walk down lonely street
F
Past the bars and the grand hotels
C G7
Checking out all the beautiful people who were checking in
C C7
Now I walk like the street is mine
F Cdim
Hand in hand with our dreams entwined
C G7 C
Baby, you brought about my day of reckoning

[Bridge]
F C
What's the deal with the fear I feel, is it the real me squealin'?
F C
On the one on the run from the sum of my heart and soul
Dm
Who'd take a trip round the universe
Am
In my head while my world got worse
F Dm G7
And disengage, slip my stays, float away until I'd lost control

[Chorus]
C
I used to walk down lonely street
F
Past the bars and the grand hotels
C G7
Checking out all the beautiful people who were checking in
C C7
Now I walk like the street is mine
F Cdim
Hand in hand with our dreams entwined
C G7 Am D7
Baby, you brought about my day of reckoning
C G7 C F C
Baby, you brought about my day of reckoning
