Robert Earl Keen, Jr. (born January 11, 1956 in Houston, Texas) is an American singer-songwriter. Growing up, Keen was interested in music, sports, movies and writing. He attended Texas A&M University, enrolling in the school of journalism. Disappointed in the College Station, Texas music scene, he began playing guitar and learned to read and write music, basing his style on folk, country, blues and roots rock. In 1977 he rented a house from landlord Jack Boyett, where his neighbor was a then-unknown Lyle Lovett.

CG I guess we've come full circle AmGF We're strangers once again CGF It's hard to know we'd ever come to this CGAmGF It's funny you were sayin' how you'll miss the good ole times CGFGC When all along I'm thinkin' you're the one I'll miss
[chorus] GC Love's a word I never throw around FGC So when I say I love you til' the end FGAmGF I'm talkin' about until the day they lay me in the ground CGF Love's a word I never throw around
I'd like to think you're leavin' cuz I treated you unkind Or maybe you just found somebody new But I know the only reason you're leavin' me behind Is you're no longer feelin' the way I feel for you
[chorus]
Well I'm going to the country; spend some time out in the woods Countin' stars and sleepin' all alone And I can't say for certain it'll do me any good But its time I grew accoustomed to being on my own
