Karlzen’s career began in 1992 when an indie label owner offered to record her first album, “Mary Karlzen.” It was released regionally and established her as a unique new talent. Soon after, Atlantic Records signed her just as a wave of new female acts like Sheryl Crow and Jewel were exploding on the music scene. “Yelling at Mary” received outstanding reviews from The Washington Post, People Magazine, Musician Magazine, The Chicago Sun-Times, Billboard and dozens of other publications.

SWINGING ON HIS ARM (Mary Karlzen) ---------------------------------- [Pardon the weird formatting; Mary has a tendency to break her lines up in unusual ways, making it hard to type out chords...]
CCBbBb Drive the car down the dirt road, and back behind the barn FFGGCC Back where we used to hide, and run out on the fields BbBbFF With those dogs fast on our heels; I didn't know GG That those dogs would never bite FGFGDD (bite) Catching bugs back by the light, in the trees I see you hiding FF I see you hiding
CFGG Well I'd give everything I own for a taste of yesterday CFGG To hear my father calling out "Mary," well I know just what he'd say FGDD Back to the farm, we'd be out to the fields (??), and I'd be FCGG Swinging on, swinging on his arm
And walk out to the prairie there, thinking we'd find God somewhere But he was nowhere to be found And climb up on a haystack, and have us a look around Don't you know, not one tree broke the ground And of all the things I miss, I can tell you, I can tell you I can tell you this
Well I'd give everything I own for a taste of yesterday To hear my father calling out "Mary," well I know just what he'd say Back to the farm, we'd be out to the fields (??), and I'd be Swinging on, swinging on his arm, and I'd be Swinging on, swinging on his arm, and I'd be
And of all the things I miss, I can tell you, I can tell you I can tell you this
Well I'd give everything I own for a taste of yesterday To hear my father calling out "Mary," well I know just what he'd say Back to the farm, we'd be out to the fields (??), and I'd be Swinging on, swinging on his arm, well I'd be Swinging on, swinging on his arm, well I'd be Swinging on, swinging on his arm, I'd be [slowly:] Swinging on, swinging on his arm
Drive the car down the dirt road, and back behind the barn
