Walking the Beans
D
In the middle of the summer heat
G D
After the corn was laid- -by
G D
We would walk the beans, looking for weeds
G D
And the sun was always hell- - high
Oh, those beans were way past waist-high
G D
And they tangled with your feet
G D
Youd pull and strain and really try
A D
To keep up with Dad, in the dry summer heat
G D
Dad had a passion for singing and making rhymes
A
He had a whole passel of short, funny songs
D G D
And he would sing and hum them some of the time
G D
Just to make the day seem not so long
G D
Oh I am so very lucky to have those songs
A
Tucked away on some old calendars Dad wrote on
D G D
I get them out now once in a while
A D
Just to listen and dream of him and his great smile
A
In the summer heat
D
Not so bad after all
G D
(Fade..)??.. Not too bad after all
