The Narrows
D G D
Let me tell you,
A
About the place where I used to live
D G D
A plot of timber ground, sky so blue
A D
With a creek out back and wildlife, too
G D
I had a spot on the creek I called the Narrows
A
You could step across the rocks and rushing water
D G D
Build a small fire, watch the hawks and sparrows
A D
And at sun-down I would loosen the halter
G D
I would mostly watch and dream
A
Write a song or a poem or two
D G D
Peaceful feelings to me it would seem
A D
And walk back to the cabin in the evening dew
G D
The next day, I would go to the narrows again,
A
Always see things that I had missed before
D G D
Hear natures voices, and trees creakin in the wind
A D
Back to the cabin to rest, close the heavy door
G D
Those were the times I took for granted
A
Not aware of how fortunate that I was
D G D
Now the old cabin roof is so slanted
A D
Watched over by two lovely mourning doves
G D indeed
The Narrows, oh how I miss you......... ....fade.
