Shearin Sheep Today
G C
We are going to shear sheep today,
G
Thats what I heard my grandmother say
D7
They gathered them into pens,
G
And the Shearers had their way
G C
Little sheep were crying and bleating
G
So afraid of what was going one
D7
They ran to their mamas
G
When the shearing was done
C
Oh it didnt take very long
G
To rob them of their coats
D7
And they stood there, shakin
G
It seemed so very wrong
C
Shearing was a necessary oper- -ation
G
As the folks often exp- lained
D7
But it left a permanent impression
G
On this little boy, just the same
C
It happened every summer
G
As best I can re- call
D7
The wool from their bodies
G
Gave clothes for us all
C
So I guess it was ok after all
C
To treat them that a- way
D7
But as a little boy lookin in
G
I wished not to see that day
C
Yes, we are shearin sheep today
G
Thats what I heard Grandma say
D7
If it is all the same to you
G
I think I will stay away
