Jackass Hill
G C
Well, they pocket mined the mountains
G
Around Jackass Hill, so I am told
C
The Cherokee, and Turnback Creeks
G D7 G
All were seeking the Mother Lode
[Chorus]
G C
Twain hauled buckets of water
G
To wash the mountain side soil
C
Then quit, would go no further
G D7 G
And stopped one bucket short of the Mother Lode
C
The rains came, and washed the soil away
G
Others came, finding the gold nugget line,
C
That eventually lead them to the Mother Lode
D7 G
Which became the Morgan Gold Mine
C
Well, they called it Jackass Hill
G
Named for the two hundred mules
C
That supplied those pocket miners
G D7 G
Looking for pockets of gold
C
They quit and would go no further,
G D7 G
Stopped one bucket short of the Mother Lode
