Those Old Calendars Dad Wrote On

E A
Those old calendars Dad wrote on...
E
About the weather, and things going on
B
Gone all day, to help Uncle Gene
E
Or just to visit a neighbor he hadn't seen
A
Cold dry wind, and twelve below
E
December 20 shortest day of the year
B
Florence working late, have to drive in heavy snow
E
Kids all growed up, wish they were here
A
Like the song I sang when I was young
E
Just old and in the way
B
His notes and rhymes lay here unsung
E
But now I am putting them into play
A
Those notes and rhymes the calendars hold
E
Are my link to past-gone days
B
My lips begin to quiver, tho no longer cold
E
I'm certain that Dad wrote them to play
