For those who find the A B E D G D bit tricky:
I play everything apart from D in as an e-shape barre chord. The G sounds much better as a barre chord anyway. It can be a little tricky, but it isn't too hard
A when John he saw the numbers he lied DE made up the whole thing, failed when he tried A to cash in on his cautious new fame DE always the numbers but never the name

A We we hit the numbers we broke DE broke in and changed them changed as we spoke A we knew that we would always be down DE hitting the numbers spun way 'round
A and somebody beside you D slipped your head inside the crown A the princes of the paupers D and all the old showstoppers E till this moment's still unknown
A sirens' songs have tried, too D yet, she takes you as her own A the princes of the paupers D and all the old showstoppers E till this moment's still unknown
A and when he got the numbers he thought DE thought of his friends who slowed to a halt A who had questioned to no avail DE some knew the answers, some wouldn't tell

A When Gabriel saw the numbers he fell DE fell through the clouds into the great well A but woke up before he hit the ground DE no one had noticed still he looked around

A sirens' songs have tried, too D yet, she takes you as her own A the princes of the paupers D and all the old showstoppers E till this moment's still unknown
