See my tab of the intro to learn how to play that. (http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/t/the_head_and_the_heart/ down_in_the_valley_intro_ver3_tab.htm) This covers the chord progression of the rest of the song. Some of the names of the chords diagramed below may not be 100% correct, but it is how they are played in the song. Call them what you want, I couldn't figure out what their technical names were.
Also, hammer on the second fret with the second finger as he plays the C chords at certain points in the song. You can hear it by listening to the song. I didn't think one hammer-on warranted an entire tab. If you have any questions or corrections, feel free to email me.
(I figured most of this out by watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJros32de2Q as well as other live performances.)
