The Calling was a rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band started off with Alex Band (vocals) teaming up with Aaron Kamin (guitars) after the pair became friends as teenagers (Kamin was dating Band's sister at the time), and they signed a development deal with RCA. Their first album, Camino Palmero, was issued in July 2001, and it became a hit on the strength of its first single, "Wherever You Will Go". The track, a top 40 hit in twelve different countries, brought the group surprise success.

EmF London calling to the faraway towns G Now that war's declared and battle coming down EmF London calling to the underworld G Come out of the cupboard all you boys and girls EmF London calling, now don't look at us G The phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust EmF London calling, see we ain't got no swing G 'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing
[Chorus]
EmG The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in EmG Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin EmG The engines stopped running, but I have no fear EmDEm 'Cause London is drowning and I live by the river
[Verse]
EmF London calling to the imitation zone G Forget it, brother, you can go it alone EmF London calling to the zombies of death G Quit holding out, and draw another breath EmF London calling, and I don't wanna shout G But while we were talking, I saw you nodding out EmF London calling, see we ain't got no highs G Except for that one with the yellowy eyes
[Chorus]
EmG The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in EmG Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin EmG The engines stopped running, but I have no fear EmDEm 'Cause London is drowning and I live by the river
