The Avett Brothers is an American folk-rock band that originated in Concord, North Carolina. Two brothers, Seth Avett and Scott Avett, formed the group in 2000 after the breakup of the former rock band, Nemo, adding a third member, Bob Crawford. Subsequently, they have been joined by cellist Joe Kwon. The Avett Brothers combine old-time country, bluegrass, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, honky tonk and ragtime to produce a sound described by the Washington Post as "post civil-war modern rock", or by other reviewers as "grungegrass".

CAmGC The show was over it's all in the name CAmGC It never was before but this ain't the same CAmGC So try to imagine a time and a place CAmFGC Where the enemy won and the hero was slain
And poetic justice burns in the minds Of five diying soldiers on the front lines With nobody's singing in nobody's ears No one's disappointed, nobody hears
I know a lady, promise her name The price of her visit suffering and pain And we gladly waited and we gladly paid We watched the sun rise, she never came
An electric current moves us around We sank to our knees to worship the sound But nobody told us that we'd rise again Imagine a hero unable to win Imagine a hero unable to win
