Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
This version is transcribed in Two-Different Keys so the performer can choose (almost on the fly) which version works better for their voice. This also allows the performer to change keys in the middle of the song if they so desire. Some of the lyrics are different than normal because I used to play this version with a traditional Irish Band (BarleyJuice). Questions/Comments . . . Long Black Veil
[Intro][C][G][F][C] {Alt Intro}(G)(D)(C)(G)
C(G) Ten years ago, on a cold dark night, G(D) F(C) C(G) there was someone killed 'neath the town hall light. C(G) There were few at the scene, but they all agreed G(D) F(C) C(G) that the man who ran looked a lot like me. -------------------------------------------------
[CHORUS] F(C) C(G) F(C) C(G) She walks these hills in a long black veil. F(C) C(G) F(C) C(G) She visits my grave while the night wind wails. C(G) F(C) C(G) F(C) G(D) C(G) Nobody knows, Nobody sees, Nobody knows but me. -------------------------------------------------
C(G) The judge said "Son, what is your alibi? G(D) F(C) C(G) If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die." C(G) Well, I said not a word, though it meant my life G(D) F(C) C(G) For I'd been in the arms of my best friends wife. -------------------------------------------------
[CHORUS]
------------------------------------------------- C(G) The scaffold was high, and eternity neared G(D) F(C) C(G) She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear. C(G) But sometimes at night, when the cold wind blows G(D) F(C) C(G) In a long black veil, she cries over my bones. -------------------------------------------------
