The Replacements are an alternative rock group that formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1979. The band originally started off as a hardcore punk outfit but began to incorporate folk and power pop influences in their sound. They become one of the leaders of the early alt-folk set and one of the flagship bands of the American 80s post-punk scene, being as well a major influence on 90s indie rock.
The band's best known lineup consisted of Paul Westerberg (vocals, guitar), Bob Stinson (guitar), Tommy Stinson (bass) and Chris Mars (drums).

Talent Show -- The Replacements
This is the opening bit on the acoustic. Pretty easy, just bar the open A chord so that you can bounce up and down on the second fret for the F# note and have your pinky ready to hit the G# note on the 4th fret.
This is repeated throughout the song where I have the A chord. The lead line just does very minor variations on the 0-2-0-2-4-0-2 stuff on the high E string.
A In my waxed up hair and my painted shoes A Got an offer that you might refuse A Tonight, tonight, we're gonna take a stab A Come on along, we'll grab a cab
D We ain't much to look at so A Close your eyes, here we go D We're playin' at the talent show A Playin' at the talent show D Come on along, here we go A Playin' at the talent show D Check us out, here we go A Playin' at the talent show
A Well we got our guitars and we got some picks A An' we're goin' after some lip-sync chicks A We're feelin' good from the pills we took A Oh, baby, don't gimme that look
D We ain't much to look at so A Close your eyes, here we go D We're playin' at the talent show A Playin' at the talent show D Come on along, here we go A Playin' at the talent show D Hop a ride, here we go A Playin' at the talent show
A Well it's the biggest thing in my life I guess Look at us all, we're nervous wrecks Hey, we go on next
D Playin' at the talent show A Playin' at the talent show D Wish us luck if you can't go A Playin' at the talent show D An empty seat in the front row A Might be winners now, you never know
