Kate Wolf (born Kathryn Louise Allen in San Francisco, California, USA) (January 27, 1942 – December 10, 1986) was an American folk singer and songwriter.
Wolf didn't get her recording career going until the mid-'70s, by which time she was well into her thirties. Prior to emerging as a solo artist, she had headed the band Wildwood Flower (who backed her on her first two albums), and organized folk concerts and festivals in Northern California. Very much a self-starter
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
This is a great song by Kate Wolf, "Here in California" from the album Close to You

VERSE GAmG When I was young my mamma told me DEm She said child take your time CG Don't fall in love too quickly AmC Before you know your mind GAmG She held me round the shoulders DEm In a voice so soft and kind CG She said love can make you happy AmG And love can rob you blind
CHORUS AmDG Here in California AmD7Em fruit hangs heavy on the vine CG And there's no gold I thought I'd warn ya AmDG And the hills turn brown in the summertime
VERSE GAmG Now I may learn to love you DEm But I can't say when CG This morning we were strangers AmC And tonight we're only friends GAmG I'll take my time to know you DEm I'll take my time to see CG There's nothing I won't show you AmG If you take your time with me
CHORUS AmDG Here in California AmD7Em fruit hangs heavy on the vine CG And there's no gold I thought I'd warn ya AmDG And the hills turn brown in the summertime
SOLO
VERSE GAmG There's an old familiar story DEm An old familiar rhyme CG To everything there is a season AmC To every purpose there's a time GAmG A time to love and come together DEm A time when love longs a name CG A time for questions we can't answer AmG Though we ask them just the same
CHORUS AmDG Here in California AmD7Em fruit hangs heavy on the vine CG And there's no gold I thought I'd warn ya AmDG And the hills turn brown in the summertime
