Small Fires

by Karate
Karate

Biography:

In 2005 Karate announced their demise, quietly closing the door on a 12-year run that included 6 studio albums and almost 700 performances in 20 countries. They exited the indie rock world without much fanfare, except from the small enclaves of devout fans who have followed their music since Geoff Farina's early 90's work with The Secret Stars. The band’s beginnings in the early-90's Boston indie scene, their love for improvised music and classic rock

Small Fires by Karate
from the album Unsolved

Em7
Within the influence of innocence
Dsus2/D C
You were dressed to kill
Am Asus4
Pulling styles from the atmosphere
Asus2 Am
You could have dressed us all
Em7
As we surrendered to the worn jets
Dsus2/D c
"Impossible to crash,
Am Asus4
Impossible to fail"
Asus2 Am
Like the dim lights on the dash
Em7
As we were pulling out of anywhere
Dsus2/D c
on any other road

Am Asus4
Now I can tell by the way the rain hits the glass
Asus2 Am
That it wants to be cold
Em7
It wants to be snow Is it falling there
Dsus2/D c
Obscuring small fires
Am Asus4
That deign another shining front-page spread
Asus2 Am
Where old worn men conspire?

Dsus2/D
So much for Saturdays
Bm/G C9
And other days when lives are at stake
Dsus2/D Bm/G
God forgive us for the hatred
C9
For the risks that we take
Dsus2/D Bm/G
Boys forget promises from both coasts
C9
Well, what would it take to get out now?

Em7 Dsus2/D c Am (4 times)

Em7
Is this what they call the end?
Dsus2/D C
Are we sleeping on a dark star?
Am Asus4
Is this some saint we all forgot?
Asus2 Am
Is she burning in a parked car?

Em7
Because violence is so, so slow
Dsus2/D C
And the patience will do us in
Am Asus4
So mothers stop looking for your sons in the woods
Asus2 Asus2
Because you will find them on CNN

Em7
That's when you will try, try
Dsus2/D c
But you can't evict the sun
Am Asus4
It lights up one hour every morning every day
Asus2 Am
When you know you are the one

Dsus2/D
So much for Saturdays
Bm/G C9
And other days when lives are at stake
Dsus2/D Bm/G
God forgive us for the hatred
C9
For the risks that we take
Dsus2/D Bm/G
Boys forget promises from both coasts
C9
Well, what would it take
Dsus2/D Bm/G
We forget promises from both coasts
C9
Well, what would it take
