THE BELL TOWER JESSE MICHAELS
INTRO: NONE
VERSE: BE Well the street was jumping with murderers AB And their half set alibis E And though I prefer poetry, AB I brought my guns to the starting line
And when the announcer said EAB “Cast your currents, all bloods come from upstream!” E I chambered a little insurance myself, AB Pointed my iron and squeezed
PRE-CHORUS: E Neck and neck with teenage archers G Straining against their bows A We tracked the cities pornographies
And sang ice to it snows
CHORUS: BE As we ran to the bell tower BE As we ran to the bell tower BE As we ran to the bell tower AB What, woh-oh-oh-woh
VERSE: BE In cool flight jazzish lines AB Sounded like classical themes E I littered the night with clumsy jamming AB Constructed a lean to dream E Thus, into the race I fell or jumped AB With a bit of affected malice E Grabbed hold of the rudder AB And steered the rotting ship towards the palace
PRE-CHORUS: E Some of the chumps I left in my wake G Had dossiers and blast A Probably most of the worst of them AAA Were reflections of me in the glass
CHORUS: B And we ran to the bell tower
VERSE: BE There's a village of little bruises AB That set you on its spiral track E To lower your voice any jeers and cover AB Letters turn to black E Hey remember that knife you bought as a joke? AB Now it’s whispering hints E You’re in Shiloh now little kid AB Down here we sleep in sense
PRE-CHORUS: E So point your weapons upward G Against both luck and god A With any luck that son of a bitch
Will roll your numbers odd
CHORUS: BE As we ran to the bell tower BE As we ran to the bell tower BE As we ran to the bell tower AB Woh-oh-oh-woh
OUTRO: BE As we ran to the bell tower BE As we ran to the bell tower BE As we ran to the bell tower AB Woh-woh-oh-woh
