Am G F E (x3)
Am G Dm

Am G F C
Black top pave-ment cover me
Am Dm F E
Like a chemical reaction or a steamroller, spreading randomly
Am G F C
There's a distant buzz and low frequency
Am G F E
It tickles my ears, rustles under my feet
Dm F C G
And it shakes the leaves off of every tree
Dm C G
Vio-lent-ly
Am G Dm
What pretention everlasting peace
F G G#/Em Am
Everything must cease

Am G F E (x3)
Am G Dm

Am G F C
In-sti-tu-tion on the hill
Am Dm F E
Like a beacon in the mind of an ancestor to unite the people's will
Am G F C
There's a shadow stain on the west facade
Am G F E
It has spray like decay to enshroud the fraud
Dm F C G
and the descendents find it oh so odd
Dm C G
Oh so odd
C G Dm
What pretention everlasting peace
F G G#/Em
Everything must cease

Am G F E (X3)
Am G Dm

AM G F C
Grave memorial, hewn white stone
Am Dm F E
Like the comforting caress of a mother or a friend you've always known
Am G F C
It evokes such pain and significance
Am G F E
What was once reduced to rememberence
Dm F C G
And the generations pass without recompense
Dm C G

C G Dm
What pretention everlasting peace
F G G#/Em Am
Everything must cease.

Am G F E
