Country Joe and the Fish was a rock music/folk music band known for musical protests against the Vietnam War, from 1965 to 1970.
The lead singer was "Country" Joe McDonald. The lead guitarist was Barry "The Fish" Melton. Co-founders McDonald and Melton added musicians as needed over the life of the band. By 1967, what many consider the classic line-up included Gary "Chicken" Hirsh (drums), David Cohen (keyboards) and Bruce Barthol (bass).
The band was an early example of Psychedelic music.
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

WHO AM I - Country Joe and the Fish
CGCGD7 Who am I to stand and wonder, to wait CGCG While the wheels of fate slowly grind my life away CG Who am I
(G) C There were some things that I loved one time GC But the dreams are gone I thought were mine GC And the hidden tears that once did fall GC Now burn inside at the thought of all GC The years of waste, the years of cryin' GC The passions of a heart so blind GC To think that, but even still GC As I stand exposed to the feelings I felt GCD7G And I cried into the echoes of my loneliness
CHORUS
What a nothing I've made of life The empty words, the coward's plight To be pushed and passed from hand to hand Never daring to speak never daring to stand And the emptiness in my family's eye Reminds me over and over of lies And promises and deeds undone And now again I have to run But now there is nowhere to run to
CHORUS
Now my friend we meet again And we shall see which one will bend Under the strain of death's golden eyes Which one of us will win the prize To live - and which one will die 'Tis I my friend, yes 'tis I Will kill to live again and again Clutch the throat of sweet revenge For life is here only for the taking
CHORUS
I hope these lyrics are correct. I got the chords from Barry Melton, one of the Fish, in our short e-mail If anyone out there has chords or tabs for Rock Coast Blues, I would be eternally grateful.
