John Prine (born October 10, 1946 in Maywood, Illinois-died April 7, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee) was an American country/folk singer-songwriter who has achieved widespread critical (and some commercial) success since the early 1970s.
The son of William Prine and Verna Hamm, his grandfather had played guitar with Merle Travis and he started playing guitar himself at 14 years old. He was a postman for 5 years and spent a couple of years in the army before starting his musical career in the Chicago area.
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wedding Bells/Lets Turn Back the Years - John Prine ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CGC I got the invitation that you sent me, CGC You wanted me to see you change your name FC I couldn't stand to see you wed another GC But dear I hope you're happy just the same
CGC I planned a little cottage in the valley, CGC I even bought that little band of gold FC I thought some day I'd place it on your finger, GC But now the future looks so dark and cold
FC Wedding bells are ringing in the chapel GC That should be ringing now for you and me FC Down the aisle with someone else you're walking GCDG Those wedding bells will never ring for me
G Darling lets turn back the years D And go back to yesterday
Lets pretend that time has stopped G And I didn't go away
G We had our love to make us happy D Love wasn't meant to bring us tears
Love like ours should never die GC So darling let's turn back the years
CGC I fancy that I see a bunch of roses CGC A blossom from an orange tree in your hair FC While the organ plays "I Love You Truly," GC Just let me pretend that I am there
FC Wedding bells are ringing in the chapel GC That should be ringing now for you and me FC Down the aisle with someone else you're walking GC Those wedding bells will never ring for me GC Those wedding bells will never ring for me
