"If the Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me" by Jimmy Buffett >From "The Last Mango in Paris" album Submitted by Richard Burchett ======================================
I wrote the intro-melody part out in tab format. This part needs to be played by finger-picking. The chords above the tab usually give an easy reference to the proper positioning of the left hand while the individual notes are played.
Verse 1: CEmFC There are oceans of feelings be-tween us, AmC currents that take us and sweep us away. CEmFC That's why we seldom have seen us, AmGC in the light of a cold hard day. AmC Lot's of new friends, with the same old answers, AmGG7 open your eyes you might see, CEmFC if our lives were that simple we'd live in the past, AmGC if the phone doesn't ring, its me.
Chorus: GC If the phone doesn't ring, you know that it's me, GC I'll be out in the eye of the storm, GC if the phone doesn't ring, you know that I'll be, GC where someone can make me feel warm. CEmFC It's too bad we can't turn and live in the past, AmGC-(first chord of intro) if the phone doesn't ring, it's me.
Intro-melody: No repeats this time.
Verse 2: CEmF C I've had good days and bad days and going - half - mad days, AmC I try to let go, but your still on my mind. CEmFC I've lost all the old ways, I'm searching for new ways, AmGC Putting it all on the line. AmC Lots of new friends, with the same old problems, AmGG7 open your eyes you might see, CEmFC if our lives were that simple we'd live in the past, AmGC if the phone doesn't ring, it's me.
Repeat chorus.
Intro-melody: Play the tab part, singing these words over it. All repeats this time. CEmF It's me, it's me, CEmF it's me, it's me, CEmF it's me, it's me, CEmF it's me, it's me.
Coda: (Slowly) CEmFC If it takes all our future we'll live through the past, AmGCC/FC if the phone doesn't ring, it's me.
That's All. Once again, this song sounds much better if you finger-pick it. Also, it's a nice touch to add a high "g" note to the Em chords.
