[Verse 1]
E You've got the best of both worlds G#mF#m You're the kind of girl who can take down a man, AB And lift him back up again E You are strong but you're needy, G#m Humble but you're greedy F#m Based on your body language, AB Your shouted cursive I've been reading E You're style is quite selective, G#m Though your mind is rather reckless F#m Well I guess it just suggests, AB That this is just what happiness is
[Bridge]
AB Hey, what a beautiful mess this is AB It's like picking up trash in dresses
[Chorus]
EG#m Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write F#mAB Kind of turn themselves into knives EG#m And don't mind my nerve, you can call it fiction F#mABF# 'Cause I like being submerged in your contradictions, dear AF#AE 'Cause here we are, here we are
[Verse 2]
EG#m Although you were biased, I love your advice F#m Your comebacks they're quick AB And probably have to do with your insecurities E There's no shame in being crazy, G#m Depending on how you take these F#mAB Words they're paraphrasing this relationship we're staging
[Bridge]
AB Hey, what a beautiful mess, yes it is AB It's like we 're picking up trash in dresses
[Chorus]
EG#m Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say F#mAB Kind of turn themselves into blades EG#m And the kind and courteous is a life I've heard F#mAB But it's nice to say that we played in the dirt AF#AE Cause here, here we are, Here we are EG#F#AB Here we are, here we are, here we are, here we are, EG#F#AB Here we are, here we are, here we are, we're still here
[Bridge]
AB And what a beautiful mess this is AB It's like taking a guess when the only answer is yes
[Chorus]
EG#m And through timeless words and priceless pictures F#mAB We'll fly like birds not of this earth EG#m And tides they turn, hearts disfigure F#mAB But that's no concern when we're wounded together. EG#m And we tore our dresses, and stained our shirts F#mAB But it's nice today, all the wait was so worth it.
