It's hard to keep tears out of my eyes

For this may be our last goodbye

Your country calls you to defend this land

C G7 C G7
You’ll do your part just like a man

C F
Down where the river bends

C G7
With God's help we'll meet again

C F
Under the same old sycamore tree

C G7 C
Proud of each other and the land of the free

F
I go down to the ocean blue

C G7
And be as close as I can to you

C F
Though this old ocean my keep us apart

C G7 C G7
It can't keep you dear out of my heart

C F
Down where the river bends

C G7
With God's help we'll meet again

C F
Under the same old sycamore tree

C G7 C
Proud of each other and the land of the free

If the worst should happen and the poppies should wave

C G7
Over your far and lonely grave

C F
All the rest of my life I'll spend in prayer

C G7 C
I'll meet you in heaven there's no war there

C F

C F
Under the same old sycamore tree
