Death Cab for Cutie is an American indie rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band consists of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar, piano), Nicholas Harmer (bass), Jason McGerr (drums), Dave Depper (guitar) and Zac Rae (keyboards).
Death Cab began as a solo project of Ben Gibbard, now the band's vocalist and guitarist. Gibbard took the band name from the satirical song Death Cab for Cutie, performed by The Bonzo Dog Band in The Beatles' 1967 experimental film Magical Mystery Tour.

FDm Love of mine some day you will die A# But I'll be close behind FC I'll follow you into the dark
FDm No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white A# Just our hands clasped so tight FC Waiting for the hint of a spark
[Chorus] DmF If heaven and hell decide A#F That they both are satisfied DmFCC7 Illuminate the NO s on their vacancy signs DmF If there's no one beside you A7Dm When your soul embarks A#A#mF Then I'll follow you into the dark
In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule I got my knuckles brusied by a lady in black And I held my toungue as she told me Son fear is the heart of love So I never went back
[Chorus] If heaven and hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NO s on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark
You and me have seen everything to see From Bangkok to Calgary And the soles of your shoes Are all worn down The time for sleep is now It's nothing to cry about FC Cause we'll hold each other soon A# In the blackest of rooms
[Chorus] If heaven and hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark A#CF Then I'll follow you into the dark
