A finales de la década de los 90, los jóvenes Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney y Brian Lane comenzaban en el mundo de la música con la banda The Rookie Lot, una banda de post-hardcore de la zona de Long Island junto a Brandon Reilly, guitarrista también de bandas como The Movielife y Nightmare of You.
