Bob Schneider (born October 12, 1965) is an American musician based in Austin, TX. He is the former lead-singer of Ugly Americans.
For nearly ten years, Schneider has performed a Monday night residency at the Saxon Pub, an intimate and legendary venue on South Lamar, Austin, Texas. Schneider and the members of Lonelyland, the band name that he uses to keep these shows “underground,” are seated on stage as they work through a “live rehearsal” of songs that Schneider calls up from his repertoire of over four hundred songs.

VERSE 1: CEm Me and My best friend Jim started our own band AmF When I was fifteen living in Deutschland. CEm Didn't matter that we could hardly play AmF Came up with a crazy name, called the band "Queen UK" CEm I played the guitar, he played drums AmF Our parents told us one day we'd be bums CEm And everyday we'd go over to his parents house AmF And in the basement we'd play as hard and loud CEm As we could get it. It drove his mom mad AmF But it never seemed to bother his drunk dad. CEm We wrote five or six, songs or so AmF We played them at the high school talent show CEm We blew the shit up. The girls went crazy. AmF We looked so cool. They called us 'baby.' CEm And after that man, we had it made. AmF The normal life was later-ade.
INTERLUDE: C, Em, Am, F...
VERSE 2: CEm Well I moved to Austin, he moved to LA after living in Seattle. AmF I joined a funk band, he got all into heavy metal. CEm It was a wild time. I did a lot of blotter. AmF It was like some bad episode of "Welcome Back Kotter". CEm I went out to LA to visit him. AmF But he was all messed up playing in some shitty band. CEm Snorting heroin. He had like ten tatoos. AmF We smoked some serious kind, drank a ton of booze. CEm We joked around alot. We'd always say AmF We've come so far since the good ol' days.
INTERLUDE: C, Em, Am, F...
VERSE 3: CEm It was a blur but, I don't really remember much. AmF Just glad to get the hell out, I never liked LA too much. CEm Austin was more laid back, more like my kind of town. AmF People kickin it, not so tightly wound. CEm My bands kept breaking up, like they always do. AmF I kept getting by, and pulling through. CEm I got a phone call from Jim one night in ninety-eight AmF He didn't sound so good he said 'I need a break'. CEm He said can I come to stay for a week or so. AmF I said 'That'd be cool. No problem bro.' CEm But I never spoke to him again after that. AmF I got a call from this guy in Jim's band Aftermath. CEm He said that Jim had died sometime last week or so. AmF In his apartment, some kind of overdose. CEm The police couldn't find his folks, and maybe did I know AmF How to get a hold of them and I said I did and so CEm They called his parents up and it was shitty but, AmF I went to the funeral and I was all fucked up. CEm And I felt responsible in some weird ol' way. AmF But there was nothing I could do, there was nothing I could say.
INTERLUDE: C, Em, Am, F (x2)...
VERSE 4: CEm That's the way it goes when fate is king. AmF You can't tell the world how to do its thing. CEm You can just hold on tight, let it take you for a ride. AmF And maybe you might make it to the other side. CEm Well in the end I guess, it doesn't matter so. AmF I guess I'll tell you everything I know now.
