Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell, July 8, 1970) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Beck's music is known for its pop-junk culture collage of musical styles, ironic lyrics, samples, drum machines, live instrumentation and heady sound effects.
Beck was born in Los Angeles, California, to David Campbell (a musician and son of a Presbyterian minister) and Bibbe Hansen (a former dancer for The Velvet Underground, founding member of the satirical band Black Fag, and visual artist).

[Verse] CC/BAm Oh country down GC Where I found my proving ground CC/BAm All along the floodline GC Wheels are turning around GC The hills roll out like centuries GC Pass by without a sound GFAmG Just a mile outside of town
CC/BAm Downriverbound GC Where the limit to your sky fell down CC/BAm A plot against your will GC Is furrowed into your brow GC Against your better judgment GC It's all behind you now GFAmG Just a mile outside of town
DF What's the use in being found AmG When you can lose yourself in some good ground? DF In the weeds hiding downriver right next door Am There's no frame around your picture G Just a view through my back door
CC/BAmGC x2

GFAmG
CC/BAm Time evermore GC You just found what you're looking for CC/BAmGC A tiger rose growing through your prison door GCGC Reaching for sunlight, can't see it anymore GFAmG Just a mile from my back door
DF You could wake up on a lifeboat 'neath the sun Am On a ladder up to the sky G You're standing on the lowest rung DF Holding a lifeline, using my best defense AmG Running in the undertow I couldn't fight against
CC/BAm Oh lay me down GC Where we found my proving ground CC/BAm All along the floodline GC Waves are turning around GC The hills roll out like centuries GC Pass by without a sound GFAmG Just a mile outside of town
