Am It was Don Delilo whiskey FC And a blinking midnight clock C Speakers on the T.V. stand FG Just a turntable to watch Am Only smoke came out our mouths FC On all those hooded sweatshirt walks AmGF We were a stroke of luck AmGF We were a gold mine that gutted us
CAm And from the sidelines you see me run CF Until I'm out of breath CG Living the good life I left for death FG The sorrowful midwest GF But I did my best to keep my head
CAmGF 2x
Am It was grass stain jeans and incompletes FC And a girl from class to touch C But you think about yourself too much FG And you ruin who you love Am Well all these claims at consciousness FC My stray dog freedom AmGF Let's have a nice clean cut AmGF Like a bag we buy and divy up
CAm And from the sidelines I see you run CF Until you're out of breath CG And all those white lines that sped us up FG We hurried to our death GF Well I lagged behind so you got ahead.
